Meredith's ex-husband was a serial killer. Was, because she killed him. Or, at least, she thought she did. But now hunky Federal Agent Slade Jackson tells her he's back and killing women who look just like her.

What's a vampire to do?

Probably banging the human agent on the case isn't the best plan. But he's smoking hot, he wants her, she wants him and she just can't seem to stop. They both better hope it doesn't interfere with the case, or she'll be screwed.

And not in the good way.

Meredith looked deep into his eyes. She sensed only acceptance, no fear. That was good, because she really needed to feed and she didn’t want to leave him alone to hunt. Cyril might be outside watching, waiting for an opportunity to claim him. She needed to stake her claim on him first and in such a way that even Cyril couldn’t refute it. Having Slade’s cooperation would make it much easier.

His arousal pressed against her, leaving no doubt about his desire. It was a shame it had to be this way, but he would either forgive her or she’d make him forget everything. He was a man of his word. She could sense it, but she couldn’t risk the others by letting him keep his memory. Feeding from him would enable her to manipulate his mind, something she hadn’t been very successful at yet.

“Sweetheart?” His soft-spoken question snapped her out of her thoughts and reminded her of what she was supposed to be doing. Feeding.

“Yes?” She leaned in to him and lifted her face up to meet his blue eyes, darkened with desire.

“When you feed, is it like it was in the alley, when we kissed?”

“Oh no.” She shook her head. “It’s a lot more intense. A lot more fulfilling, for both parties.”

He cocked his head. “Do you do this often?”

“Do what often?” It was hard to form a coherent thought when he was looking at her as if he was starving. She was the one who needed to feed, not him.

“Fight werewolves for men, then take them back to their hotels and drink their blood?”

“Nope, this is a first for me.” She sighed when he continued to look at her with a curious expression on his face. “This is the first time I’ve been challenged for a meal. By a werewolf, anyway. Like I said, I prefer to drink prepackaged blood. Are you nervous? Scared?”

“Me scared?” Slade snorted and lowered his mouth. One of his hands cupped her chin, his thumb brushing against the side of her face. “I’m never scared.”

She smiled. “Good. Then kiss me.”

Meredith nipped at his lower lip with her normal teeth. She didn’t want to rush things. It had been so long since she’d had a fresh meal that she wanted to take her time and enjoy it. Especially since he was willing. He was leaving in the morning. She’d make sure of it. Why not give him a thrill to remember her by? And the added benefit of fresh warm blood was that she’d recuperate her strength faster.

She pulled back and met his steady gaze. “I bet when you tried flirting with me in the café you didn’t think you’d actually be bringing me back to your hotel room.”

“Meredith?” Slade sighed, brushing his lips over hers.

“Yes?” Her breath caught at the gentle caress.

She frowned and started to tell him to shhh, when he covered her mouth with his, silencing her. Meredith felt his kiss all the way down to her toes. Heat rippled throughout her entire body and her stomach tightened in desire.

She leaned up on her toes to give him better access. Slade kept one hand on her chin, and moved the other to her lower back. He rubbed his warm palm against her, while deepening his assault on her mouth.

Slade’s tongue tangled with hers, coaxing small sounds from the back of her throat. The heady scent of his arousal only served to fuel her desire. Meredith grabbed onto his shoulders and held on as his lips left hers, kissing his way down her cheek and along the side of her neck.

Tilting her head to give him better access, she arched, and slid her hands down his sides, tugging his hips closer.

“Meredith,” Slade whispered before sucking the bottom of her earlobe into his mouth, and biting gently.

She barely registered the change in the air around them as her magic slipped free, entangling them in a web of desire.

“I need you,” Slade groaned, trailing kisses her neck. “Now.”

He reached down and started to lift up her shirt, sending a rush of anticipation humming through her veins. With a whimper, Meredith released her hold on him so he could remove it. After tossing it aside, he cupped her breasts. She watched Slade’s expressive face as he released them from her bra and then captured them with his hands, hunger etched in his features.

His touch sent flames of desire through her and she thought they might set the room on fire. Sheer liquid heat raced along her veins while her heart thundered in her chest. Meredith’s breath caught in her throat as he caressed her again.

When Slade lowered his face and sucked her nipple into his mouth, Meredith cried out, grabbing onto him for support as her knees buckled, and pleasure rocked through her body.

“Jeez, Slade,” she panted, nails digging into his flesh as his tongue swirled around her nipple.

He looked up at her with a smirk. “Meredith, shhh.”

Biting her lip, she looked down into his face. He met her gaze boldly, his tongue tracing a circle around her oversensitive skin.

Meredith knew she wouldn’t be able to settle for just taking his blood. She wanted everything he had to offer, no matter the price.
