Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about e-books in general or your
order in particular? You'll probably find the answer
here much more quickly than we could respond to an
e-mail. To learn about Loose Id's return and exchange
policies, please visit the Customer
Service Policies page.
About Our Books
All Loose Id books contain graphic sexual content
and are intended for adult audiences only. Please
keep your e-books safe from underage readers.
Ratings
All Loose Id books are well-written, exciting stories
with explicit sexual content. You might be used to
the "rating systems" used by other e-publishers.
However, at Loose Id we've found these rating guides
to be artificial and unhelpful to the majority of
our customers. You can count on every Loose Id book
to deliver a sexy, exciting story. Beyond that, we'll
post a note on the product pages of any books that
contain material that readers may find offensive,
such as BDSM, menage, or sex with sentient shifters
in shifted form.

Choosing a Format
Need help choosing the right format? Find the category
below that best describes you.
I have a hand-held e-book reader: Kindle, Sony, Franklin, etc.
If you own a specific e-book reader, order the format that works
on your device. Many devices accept the EPUB format.
SONY: You can purchase the EPUB format for use on a Sony Reader.
NOOK: You can purchase the EPUB format for use on a Nook.
KINDLE: Our Mobipocket PRC files work on the Kindle. Note that
unlike the Amazon Kindle store, Loose Id's ordering system cannot
e-mail books directly to your Kindle. You'll have to transfer
the books by downloading the files to your computer, then either:
1. e-mailing the files to your Amazon Kindle e-mail address; OR
2. by connecting your Kindle to your computer via USB cable and
dragging the file to the Kindle. It's not as complicated as it
sounds. If you need technical assistance, contact us at: helpme
at loose-id.com
FRANKLIN E-BOOKMAN: Mobipocket is the most reliable format.
HIEBOOK: The Hiebook supports the HTML format.
Some devices include a utility program that converts
HTML e-books to the format used on the device. If
this describes your e-book reader, order the HTML
version.
Please note that Loose Id cannot guarantee that our
books will transfer to proprietary handheld devices
that we do not manufacture.
Loose Id HTML files are available in both ZIP and EXE formats.
The self-extracting EXE is most convenient for PC users. Customers
with aggressive virus-checking software and customers with Macintosh
computers should choose the ZIP format.
I have an iPad.
The app you've installed for reading ebooks will determine the correct format for you to
use on your iPad. For example, the iBooks app supports EPUB files. The Stanza app supports a wide variety of formats.
I have an iPhone or iPod Touch.
If you've installed the iBooks app, the EPUB format will work.
You'll need to download the files to your computer from your Loose
Id order, then transfer them using the iTunes application on your
computer. It's much easier than it sounds.
If you want to use a wide variety of formats, consider the Stanza
app. While not the sole ebook reader on the iPhone/iPod Touch,
Stanza is one of the most popular and widely supported. Using
its currently free desktop application for Mac or Windows, you
can open a wide variety of file types (we recommend EPUB or Microsoft
LIT), and Stanza Desktop converts the document on-the-fly to the
correct format, which you can then export to your device.
Here are detailed instructions if you elect to use Stanza on
your iPhone: 1. Run the Stanza Desktop and load your file using
the Open File command. 2. Make sure sharing is enabled in the
Tools menu. 3. Make sure your iPhone can connect to your PC using
wifi. 4. Open Stanza on your iPhone and go to the Library. 5.
Tap Shared Books. 6. You should see an entry such as 'Books on
MyPC'. 7. Tap this and your book should be listed. 8. Tap the
book to download it to your iPhone.
I have a Palm Pilot, Pocket PC, or other PDA.
Many "general purpose" PDAs, such as the
Palm Pilot and Pocket PC, support multiple e-book
readers. Your PDA may already have a compatible reader
installed for one of our supported formats, such as
Microsoft Reader, Mobipocket, or Adobe PDF Reader.
To download the applications for free and find out
more information, explore these links:
I own a Macintosh computer.
Macintosh owners should not order the HTML - EXE
format. These files will not open on most standard
Macintosh computers. We do provide HTML files in ZIP
format as well. Any of our other formats should work
fine on Macintosh computers.
I want to print books out and read them on paper.
The best format for printing e-books is Adobe PDF.
You can download the Adobe PDF Reader free of charge. Remember, printed
e-books are for the personal use of the original purchaser
and may not be resold.
I'm going to read books on my PC.
To read books on your computer, we recommend either
Adobe PDF or Microsoft Reader formats. Both companies
provide the reader applications for these formats
free of charge. Simply download either the Microsoft
Reader or Adobe
PDF Reader.
Placing an Order
We strive to make the ordering process as simple
as possible. Even so, questions arise from time to
time. If you don't find your answer below, visit the Customer Service Policies page for more information.
I added a book to my shopping cart, but I don't
see it there.
When you add a book to your cart, we automatically
return you to the page you were viewing. You can see
the number of books in your cart by looking at the
upper right of every page on the site. To view your
cart, click Checkout.
If you added a book and it doesn't appear in your
cart, the book is probably not yet available. We often
preview titles that are coming soon so that you have
time to read the excerpts from your favorite authors
before the books are released. If you see a "Coming
Soon" or "Out of Stock" notice in the
book's description, that title is currently not available.
You might want to add the title to your Wish List
so you can remember to buy it as soon as it's released.
The book I want is "Out of Stock." What
does that mean?
We often preview titles that are coming soon so that
you have time to read the excerpts from your favorite
authors before the books are released. If you see
a "Coming Soon" or "Out of Stock"
notice in the book's description, that title is currently
not available and may not be pre-ordered. You might
want to add the title to your Wish List so you can
remember to buy it as soon as it's released. For notification
via e-mail when the title is released, sign up for
the Idbits newsletter.
I'm ready to purchase the books in my shopping cart.
What do I do?
Click the Checkout button at the top of the page,
or click "Checkout" in the footer.
Why do you need my billing address?
Your billing address is required by the company that
validates your credit card number. This helps to protect
you from unauthorized use of your card. For information
on how Loose Id protects your personal information,
visit the Privacy Policy page.
Why can't I order by phone or with a paper check?
Ordering by phone would require a dedicated staff
to answer your calls. Similarly, processing personal
checks would require additional staff to open mail
and manually process orders. To keep costs low, Loose
Id does not currently accept phone orders or personal
checks. For your convenience, our web site accepts
all major credit cards.
Why can't I pay via PayPal?
Due to recent actions taken by PayPal against purchasers
of adult-oriented e-books, we can no longer offer
PayPal as a payment option for Loose Id merchandise.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please rest assured that all payment information sent
to Loose Id is secure. For more information on the
security of your personal information, we invite you
to read our Privacy Policy.
How do I use a gift certificate?
Gift certificates are applied after you choose your
payment option on the checkout page. On the third
page of the checkout process, you'll see a box labeled
Gift Certificates. Enter your Gift Certificate number
and click Apply, then continue checking out normally.
How do I use my VIP Club membership?
Members of the VIP Club receive
a 10% discount on every Loose Id e-book purchased from the date
of their membership activation through December 31.
To receive the discount, you must log into your
account before adding books to your shopping
cart. Simply click My Account at the bottom of any
page on the site, log in using the e-mail address
you used when you purchased your VIP Club membership,
then shop normally. If you're logged in correctly,
you'll see the discount price on every book product
page you visit.
