We have sixteen editors and, when requested to give areas of editing interest, several responded with specifics. The rest preferred to state they are interested in many different kinds of submissions. If you wish to contact a specific editor, please give the name of the editor you are interest in working with when you query us at Submissions. We don’t guarantee that is the editor you will have, but we will forward it to that editor for consideration.

Attn: Ann Curtis

Hi, my name is Ann Curtis. I graduated with a BA in liberal arts, which prepared me for tackling any sort of problem and thinking outside the box. I worked office jobs in third-party worker’s comp, the field of fire investigation, the telecom industry, the nonprofit industry, and the world of academia. In between, I joined writers’ organizations because, hey! I love to read and write and I enjoy the English language. Did you notice that my area of academic interest isn’t business oriented? I soon grew tired of working jobs that just didn’t hold my interest and in May 2005 I opened my own editing business. For those of you juggling work, family, and writing, I understand. Having lived it myself, I will work with you.

I am a Senior Editor and have been with Loose Id since August 2006 and have loved every minute of it. I have also proofread for some medium and small print presses as well as having my own clients. I am published in nonfiction, write erotic romance, and have been a member of writing organizations since 1993.

Areas of interest: FFTP (futuristic, fantasy, time-travel, paranormal)—love those shape-shifters!—these stories hold a special place in my heart, as well as a very well-written suspense or BDSM-themed romance. I like stories that are written with very hot sex and sensual tension, with well thought out plots, surprising twists, gripping tension, and characters we care about and want to see conquer their problems and realize their dreams. All relationships—m/f, m/m/f, m/m, m/f/m, heck, even a quad—are equally enticing and thrilling, so long as they support the storyline and plot. As long as your story has hot sex, an entertaining plot, and characters I care about, I am open to reading just about anything. If you would like me to consider your submission, please send to LI Submissions a cover letter, synopsis, and the first three chapters of your manuscript to my attention.

Attn: Crystal Esau

Hmmmm a bio about me, eh? Let’s see…I’ve been reading for longer than I can remember and I can’t imagine my life without it. I read almost anything I can get my hands on – name a genre and I’ve probably at least given it a try. My love of the written word and my joy in having even a small part in getting books out there for other readers makes editing the perfect work for me. I’m extremely fortunate to be editing for two wonderful e-publishers who have given me the opportunity to work with some great authors and edit some fantastic erotic romances. The romance genre has a special place in my reading repertoire and I LOVE that I get to work in this industry.

What do I look for in a book for editing? Strong characters with some personality! Characters who make me care about them. I want to root for the characters, to connect with them in some way, as they attempt to overcome their challenges, and I want to be right there cheering them on as they fall for that special someone (or someones <g>). I want to remember the characters years from now (or even next week!) I want an erotic romance. I don’t need to have euphemisms or everything hidden behind closed doors. I want my socks knocked off with some hot writing, and if that emotional connection is there between the characters, well then I’m a happy camper. I’ve read, enjoyed, and edited a variety of genres – historical, paranormal, romantic suspense, contemporary, sci-fi, and more. The main thing I want is for the story to grab hold of me and not let me out of its clutches until I read those sad words… The End.

I like heroic, earnest, and/or intellectual men, but I am also a big fan of the darker-edged anti-hero or the tragic hero. I like strong men (even fallen ones) with noble qualities, who can be as compassionate as they are fiercely passionate, as protective and loyal and gentle as they are powerful and intimidating. I like heroines who are intelligent, strong, self-sufficient, and determined, and can hold their own against any man. Just give me well developed characters that are human, three-dimensional, and compelling, and I’ll be hooked!

In terms of genres, my primary love is sci fi, especially epic sci fi, with lots of conflict and intrigue and great world building. But I also thoroughly enjoy a lot of other stuff, including historicals (all periods, including gothics), ghosts/ghost hunters/mediums, angels, fantasy, time travel, dragons, reincarnation, uncommon magics (voodoo, hoodoo, gypsy magic, Native American mysticism, Egyptian, etc.), and any really well-done, unique vampire material. I like m/f and m/m equally well, and menages that really mesh (as opposed to being a threesome just for the sake of a threesome) are fair game too. I’m not so much into f/f or hard-core BDSM, but I don’t mind mild elements of either.

Just send an introduction letter, synopsis, and the first three chapters to my attention.

Attn: Jana Hanson

Jana J. Hanson has been a book geek since the age of 3 when she memorized her favorite ABC book, but still made her mother read it to her every night. Her love of reading propelled her to major in English, where she was introduced to some of her now favorite writers.

I'm interested in erotic romances with loads of sexual tension and characters I can connect with.  I will read any genre or pairing.

Attn: Jules Robin

Hi, I'm Jules Robin, and I love books, especially books with strong characters. It took me a long time to go back to college, but I'm almost finished with a degree in psychology, with a minor in social justice and diversity. This means that the quickest way to my heart is to give me characters I really connect with. Throw them in a setting that brings out interesting facets of their personality--historical, futuristic, contemporary, fantasy, science fiction, paranormal, mystery, etc.--and tell me a story that ratchets up the sexual tension and delivers with a punch. I'm a sucker for unusual locations and premises, and I love an author who is willing to think outside the box.

I'll take any pairing you have, but the way to really grab my attention is to give me characters who belong to a social minority. Give me characters of color, characters who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, genderqueer, polyamorous, and/or dealing with physical disabilities… Everybody has a story, and everybody deserves a romantic and sexual life that satisfies their desires!

Attn: Kierstin Cherry

Kierstin Cherry was born in a tiny village in northern New England. Forced to attend an all-girl parochial school, she led the other girls in a revolt against the nuns and escaped into the wild. Raised by wolves and fairies, she found her calling as a semi-shy erotica writer and editor.

Although Kierstin has a quirky, irreverent sense of humor, she is very serious about her work. Her publications include the erotic vampire stories "Taken" featured in Blood Surrender by Blue Moon Books, "Enslaved," appearing in the Circlet Press ebook Like Crimson Droplets, and "Graced" featured in the Lambda-nominated anthology Women of the Bite by Circlet Press ebooks and in print by Alyson Books.

Kierstin has been a panelist at Arisia, PhilCon, and Pi-Con, and was 4Pi-Con's "Guest of Awesome." She is currently pursuing her MFA in Writing Popular Fiction at Seton Hill University. Her thesis novel The Gathering of Seven has been referred to as "Lord of the Rings--now with girls!"

Repressed since birth, Kierstin looks for any excuse to rebel. Thus, she will read any genre or pairing. Her main interests include fantasy and science fiction featuring strong female characters. Star-crossed lovers, deep romantic conflicts, power struggles, gender role reversal, BDSM, and fantasy races are just a few of her favorite things.

Attn: Mary Harper

Mary Harper, Senior Editor for Loose Id, loves characters she can connect with, original plot lines, conflict that drive a story forward, and rich prose. And don’t forget heat! She welcomes erotic romance submissions of all genres and pairings.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in creative writing, and has read and loved the romance genre for as long as she can remember. She has been editing for Loose Id under the name Mary Harper since 2008. Attn: Maryam

Maryam loves to travel, and has been lucky enough to have a job that’s taken her all over the world. She enjoys learning about new cultures and meeting new people. Maryam has been a lover and reader of romance for more years than she’d like to count. J She’s definitely lost count of the number of books in her TBR pile (and that would include both e-books and print).

Maryam has been an editor with Loose Id almost from the very beginning.  She loves stories that help her slip away for a few hours from the every day challenges of real life.  She likes alpha heroes and heroines strong enough to handle them.

Maryam loves erotic romances of all genres, and is willing to try anything once <g>. She likes both m/f and m/m stories (and of course a well-written m/f/m or m/m/f.) Maryam is particularly interested in multicultural, BDSM, paranormal (loves shifters and vamps) and romantic suspense stories.  Most importantly she’s looking for stories with a good hook and a romance she can believe in.

Attn: Sandra Rychel

Sandra Rychel has been a freelance editor for over five years and a content editor for Loose Id since 2008. Reading and editing erotic romance is by far her favorite part of her work, probably because reading erotic romance has been one of her favorite ways to spend her time ever since she "accidentally" discovered Jackie Collins' Lovers and Gamblers stashed away in her older sister's bookshelf a few decades ago.

Preferences

I love stories of torrid romances brimming with sexual tension that leads to scorching hot sex. I don't care whether the stars of these stories are in a M/F or M/M relationship or if they are a loving threesome. As long as they are strong, exciting, and complex characters that I can connect with, they'll capture my interest. If they can sweep me up into their story with a compelling, well-drawn plot line, then I am positively hooked. Though I enjoy reading stories from all genres, I am particularly interested in those from BDSM-D/s-fetish, historical, multicultural/interracial, nontraditional sexuality, paranormal, time-travel, vampire/shifter, and any combination thereof. I'm also intrigued by stories whose plots brush the edges of the dark side.

I'm interested in all submissions. A great sci-fi/urban fantasy/paranormal submission will grab my attention and pull me into the story. It indicates strong world building and exciting relationships. I enjoy LGBT in all its forms and polyamory. I'm waiting for the perfect heartwarming transsexual romance and the ménage romance set in a polyamory society.

Attn: Rory Olsen

An avid reader all her life, Rory fell in love with romance after finding a copy of Sweet Savage Love in middle school. She welcomes all genres, but would love to see exciting romantic suspense, paranormals with a fresh perspective, and strong contemporaries. She's also interested diverse characters, including stories with multicultural and interracial themes and heroines that may not fit traditional norms of beauty.
